On Election Day, November 5, 2019, we hope to have Democratic poll watchers at all seven voting locations in Easttown to report on any voters feeling intimidated or having their right to vote being unfairly challenged. In light of some reported shenanigans and voter harassment in the past in Easttown , we want to have Democratic eyes carefully watching voting activity from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM to ensure everyone gets to fairly vote.
Poll watchers will bring any issues spotted to the attention of the Judge of Elections at each polling place and communicate any problems to a group of attorneys standing by at the Chester County Democratic Committee office.
We’ll provide training for this very important activity prior to the election in Easttown. Training will be on Sunday, October 27 in Easttown at 4PM.
We also look at this effort as an excellent chance to prepare for what we expect to be a very contentious election in 2020 when Trump is on the ballet and Republicans may go to extraordinary efforts to discourage or challenge Democratic voters.
Fair and honest elections are the foundations of our republic, and everyone must take responsibility for helping to ensure the integrity of the process. In Pennsylvania it is illegal for any person or corporation through intimidation or coercion to induce or compel a person to vote or refrain from voting for a particular candidate or on a particular political issue.
Please volunteer to be a poll watcher and attend the short training session on October 27! Send us an email to Volunteer@easttowndems.org for further information.
Thank you!
