“Devon Inn: The Resort Era” History Lecture, Tuesday, Jan. 14
January 14, 2020 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Free
Time travel with author Margaret DePiano in a photographic journey back to the 1880’s Devon Inn during the Main Line’s Resort Era.
The Philadelphia Main Line was largely created by the Pennsylvania Railroad as a means of getting people out of the city to enjoy the cooler countryside. At each station, an inn was built to accommodate guests. One of the most beautiful and elaborate inns along the route was the Devon Inn. From 1882 to 1913, many wealthy and socially prominent families from Philadelphia and elsewhere spent their summers there.
The lecture is from 10:30 to 11:30 at Surrey Services in Devon. See the address and map link below. Call to make a reservation as space is limited.
