Join a Virtual Judicial Gerrymandering Discussion – A Critically Important Issue
February 8, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Republicans in Harrisburg have apparently gotten tired of state courts rejecting their undemocratic power grabs. They were furious at the 2018 Supreme Court decision that caused PA’s gerrymandered Congressional districts to be redrawn more fairly. No doubt
they were also frustrated by former President Trump’s nearly-unbroken string of court losses as he tried to challenge the election results in Pennsylvania and other states. As a result, state legislators are introducing a new gambit: they want to pass a constitutional amendment that would effectively gerrymander our courts.
This amendment would require PA’s statewide judges to run for election in regional districts drawn by lawmakers. Please join the meeting as Lawrence Husick educates us on the proposed Judicial Districts constitutional amendment and how this will do much damage to our democracy. Due to COVID-19 social distancing protocol, the meeting will be held virtually.
Anyone wishing to attend, please send an email requesting the link to Jerry Henige at jhenige@verizon.net. We will distribute the link to those who have requested it before the meeting.
