Philly Says: Never Again Means Shut Down ICE & Devereux’s Plans In Devon
October 17, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The number of concentration camps in the United States is growing. On July 4, Jews, immigrants, and allies joined together and protested at the Philadelphia Independence Day parade. 33 were arrested, and hundreds showed up to demand an end to the detention of immigrants and refugees.
Never Again Action and Juntos will be hosting and organizing a gathering in nearby Rosemont at Ashbridge Park to demand that Devereux cancel its plans to hold 42 migrant children in a detention center in Devon, PA. The detention center recently had its zoning permit revoked and we will demand that Devereux accept this decision and abandon their plans on opening this ORR detention center.
The gathering will further demand an end to corporations profiting off of immigrant detention, the complete defunding of ICE and CBP as overall agencies, and permanent protection for all undocumented immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers
Locking up black and brown people has been big business in PA for a long time. Now, the business of detaining and abusing migrant children is becoming even more profitable here in Pennsylvania as it continues to expand. Migrant detention is happening at Berks, and it is happening in our backyards in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Even though Philadelphia is a “sanctuary city,” our neighbors live in fear of one of the most active and aggressive ICE field offices in the country.
On October 17th, Never Again Action and Juntos are calling on the Philadelphia community to call out and shut down corporate complicity and participation in the concentration camp system and human rights abuses against immigrants and refugees, and prevent more detention centers from opening.
