TE School Board and Easttown Township Candidate Forum, Thur, Sept 30
September 30, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
All of the TESD school board and the Tredyffrin Supervisor candidates have been invited to participate in a candidate forum on September 30, 7:30 PM at CHS Auditorium. The meeting will be live-streamed via Zoom and recorded.
The forum is being sponsored by CAPA-TE, a non-profit, non-religious and non-political organization. Its mission is to support educational excellence for K-12 students in the Tredyffrin-Easttown (“TE”) School District, and to support members to be informed of, involved with and empowered on public school and community matters.
FORMAT: There will be two sessions, the first half is for School Board candidates and the second half is for Township Supervisor candidates.
AGENDA
**1st half session on School Board Candidates
7:30pm-7:40pm: Introduction of CAPA-TE and rule of the meeting
7:40pm-7:50pm: Candidate’s self -Introduction (1 minute for each candidate)
7:50pm-8:40pm: Questions for School board candidates ( totally 7 questions listed below )
**2nd half session on Board of Supervisor Candidates
8:40pm-8:45pm: Change of the candidates on the stage
8:45pm-8:50pm: Background information about Board of Supervisor
8:50pm- 9:00pm: Candidate’s self -Introduction (1 minute for each candidate)
9:00pm- 9:30pm: Questions for Township Supervisor candidates (totally 4 questions listed below )
9:30pm-9:40pm: Wrap up
**Candidates from both parties will get equal opportunities to speak. The allowed answer time is up to 3 minutes– for the purpose of time control, speakers will be reminded and stopped at the end of the given time slot if cannot finish on time.
Questions for School Board Candidates:
1. Question regarding the lengthy school board meetings, and the plans to improve the communication between residents and the school board.
2. Question regarding the representation of the young children families, especially during the virtual learning struggles.
3. Question regarding fiscal responsibility and improvement of our financial management oversight.
4. Question regarding school board responsibility as the representative of their constituents, especially during the contract negotiation process.
5. Question regarding CRT and the justification of spending on PEG service.
6. Question regarding restoration of our educational excellence and addressing the learning loss during the pandemic.
7. Question regarding school board responsibility under crisis and improvement of communication and transparency.
Questions for Township Supervisors:
1. Question regarding the traffic jam issue surrounded some district schools during the drop-off and pick-up time. What is the cause and what is the solution?
2. Question regarding the storm water issues, and proposed solutions.
3. Question regarding tax increases and how to manage our tax money more efficiently and stop this trend.
4. Question regarding balancing the development of our community and the impact on our schools.
