For all those people who have ever thought about serving on their school board, borough council or township board – here’s your chance to learn how to do it. Attend a 2 hour workshop by Penn State University workshop on Monday, February 4th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in West Chester.
This workshop won’t offer campaign tips or strategies; rather the focus is on understanding the roles, responsibilities and personal rewards that come with public service.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
- An overview of Pennsylvania local government and the responsibilities of a township supervisor, a borough council member, or a school board director.
- Instructions on how to run: filing a petition, reporting campaign expenses and other important information.
- Learn from a panel of local officials who will talk about why they decided to run for office and some of their experiences since they were elected.
If you have questions about the $25 workshop, call Peter Wulhorst at 570-296-3400 or email him at ptw3@psu.edu. Learn more at the PSU website page.
